Happy Birthday!

Good morning! Two weeks ago I mentioned that my card took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to complete because, well, I lost my creative mojo. I think it was the move that put a damper on things... my creative space was in chaos, I only had access to a fraction of my supplies, and moving is so stressful! But now that my office is (mostly) set up, I am creating cards like crazy! And this card was especially fun to put together.

I created the hexagon paper by die cutting a variety of BasicGrey papers with a Hero Arts hexagon die (that I just received for winning the January contest with this card) and arranging them on a sheet of 4 x 4 1/4 white cardstock. I played around with the arrangement before adhering the hexagons permanently. I die cut the little banner and stamped with Great Impressions Stamps Happy Birthday stamp onto it, adhered it, then added a few buttons and twine. Super simple, but the results are really fun!

I finished this card yesterday and I needed to get a picture of it before the sun went down, so I propped it on my desk and took one photo. Just one. When I was doing the editing I noticed the big red blob in the background... yup, that is a bag of peanut butter M&M's. My cardmaking snack of choice this week... a little messy, but they make me happy. :-)

And don't forget... only one more day to enter this month's challenge! You can read all the details here

Have a great week!

Twirly Tag

Hi there crafty Peeps!

Today I thought I would show you a quick Spring tag that I whipped up.
I used a die to create the tag.  I always cut two and adhere them together for
an extra strong tag.  I love the Twirly Stamp and the way the sentiment curves over my images.
Each twirl is stamped with Versa Mark, sprinkled with Zing embossing powder and heat embossed.

Up close you can see all the sparkly shimmer better.  I sponged around the edges with Brilliance
Pigment ink which also has a nice shine to it.  Some ribbon to finish it off.
Now I have a pretty tag ready to go when I need it.

Supplies

Just a few more days left to get in on this months challenge.
Only 28 days this month!
I love that February is a short month....makes it seem like
Spring is just around the corner. (grin)

This is How I Roll

Happy Monday!   This is Cheryl from Shestamps.

Today I have another card created using one of the kitchen themed stamps from Great Impressions Stamps. This fun stamp is “I Roll” (E768).

2013-02-25 GI I Roll WM_thumb To continue with the homey feel from the stamp, I used some October Afternoon papers, twine, a doily and pearls. All these things make me think of Grandma’s kitchen. I can almost smell the cookies or pie that she is baking.

Although this is all so homey and cozy, I have to admit that I had the song from LMFAO with these lyrics running through my head the entire time I was crafting. Everybody sing it with me, “This is how I roll…”

Are you ready for the Great Impressions Spring Bunny Hop? Mark your calendars for March 5 to hop along with us to see some spring projects from the Great Impressions Stamps team and your chance to win some prizes.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful week!

Jammie Day Saturday -Easter Penguin

 Good Morning!

I do hope you can take a few minutes to browse today! Grab your cocoa, your bowl of oaties, slip on your bunny slippers and here we go!!!!!!

I had a different card all made up to show you today and then I stumbled on to this wonderful sketch at I {heart} sketches. Such inspiration, I had to put the other card on hold and spend my evening last night making this cutie. Funny how that works sometimes...a plan gets stuck in your head and you just have to go with it!

I stamped this cute little Great Impressions Easter Penguin in Versamark Black so that the penguin stamped nice and black. I carefully colored him with copics (versamark tends to smear with copics-be careful). Actually funny how a card can develop around a BOO BOO! I had this little penguin all colored and cut into a rectangle when I realized he was leaning-alot...oopsie...so I cut him out with an oval nestie so that it made him stand up straight and then added  him to a rectangle-problem solved! And I  like it better this way too! A little mistake can make me think out of box and I usually come up with something I like better! How about you??  Do you like your revamped boo boo's better?

The sentiment is the same one I used last week and maybe next week and next week and next....oh can you tell I love this little stamp?

I hope you can take a few minutes to visit and browse the pretty creations posted by the DT this week. We try to post new inspiration everyday! You have a few more days to join in our monthly challenge HERE as well.

I will be waiting for you with my bunny slippers keeping my toesies toasty and we can visit next Saturday--- and you can see the card that was originally made for today-another fun and of course colorful creation!!!

Romantic Collage

Happy Friday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Great Impressions Stamps Blog. We are having some very cold weather here in Pittsburgh and an ice storm is expected today. So when the weather doesn't cooperate for outside activities-you stay inside and craft. All the outside stuff can be viewed from the windows (lol)!!

My card for today is one that took me out of my comfort zone. I don't usually make vintage or distressed cards. But this beautiful "Romantic Collage H147" image from Great Impressions was calling for that. I am happy with how the card turned out.

I decided to do an embossed resist technique. Stamped the image on ivory cardstock in Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder . This part will resist the other ink used.

My background is sponged with 2 shades of pink inks. I re-stamped the post mark and the woman image again in the darker pink and fussy cut for a little background interest.

I added a die cut key. In the corner, I used a crocheted heart from my stash and die cut a heart in primrose petals cardstock and stamped the music part of this image on that.

I made a bow with some wrinkled seam binding from my stash. Pulled out my distressing tool to distress the cardstock edges as well as to curl up the corners.

You can use this for a variety of occasions-birthday, anniversary -thank you or thinking of you. That's it for me for today. See you next Friday..........

Chickadees

Hello!
Today, I'm sharing some wonderful Great Impressions Stamps!
For this project, I've chosen to use the Great Impressions Chickadees, and Cursive Happy Easter.  The image was stamped, and colored with Copic Markers.  I then adhered to the handle of this adorable Goody Basket!  These little chicks were so much fun to color - check out the teensy little flowers they are standing around!  I think I'm going to use this one a lot!  And I love the cursive sentiment!

Bunny Backs

Hello! Happy Monday! This is Cheryl from Shestamps.

For my project, I decided to make something for spring. I’m not sure if it is wishful thinking or not, but I hope that it is on it’s way. Let’s all hope that Punxsutawney Phil is accurate in his forecast this year.

Anyhow, these sweet little bunnies made me think of spring and warmer weather. Aren’t they cute?

I also masked off part of the image and stamped one of the bunnies on the inside of my card along with a sentiment from Great Impressions Stamps.

Happy Happy Easter

Jammie Day Saturday!

Happy Happy Easter!!!

Easter here we come! Today I am showing you a fun little "eggie" card with A Bunny Hug (E529) and a Happy Easter sentiment hidden inside when -just  crack the egg!

The brad on this card holds the hinge together to make the card easy to open.  I attached the Bunny to the bottom part of the egg so that it moves out of the way to show off the sentiment inside when opened!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend sleeping in and browsing a few blogs in your jammies! I wish I was, but I am heading off to see the little Grandsons and celebrate Lukeys' 3rd birthday-my how time flies!

Be sure to check out the latest creations by the rest of the Team this week!

Some Bunny Loves You

Happy Friday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Great Impressions Blog. Hope your Valentine's Day celebration was special. I love making cards for this holiday and gave everyone of them away. So mine was special in that I spread some love around.

Now it's time to begin thinking about Easter or spring cards. I make a lot for this holiday as well. And, today I am showing you my first one.

I used the Great Impressions Stamp -bunny with carrot E573. I colored this little cutie with prismacolor pencils and gamsol and also some Spectrum Noir markers. My sentiment is the C343 stamp and to get the placement I wanted my stamp-a-ma-jig came in handy.

I added some bright designer paper, used some banner dies and an embossing folder to create my "some bunny loves you" card.

That's it for me for this week. So until next time.......inky hugs!!

Wildflower Silhouette

Good morning! My poor blog has been neglected this past week due to the move, but my new desks are installed in my office and I'm hoping to have some creative time today (and continue to unpack my office!). I get a little cranky when I can't sit down and make something. :-)

I have a very sparkly card to share today for Great Impressions Stamps, but it was not an easy card to make! I worked on the floor in the family room yesterday afternoon and I had such a hard time finding inspiration. After stamping and re-stamping, moving elements around, and finally finding the perfect border (hello silver glitter!), it all came together.

I stamped the Wildflower Silhouette stamp in soft stone ink onto Rustic White cardstock. I stamped the Tiger Swallowtail stamp onto the same cardstock, careful to place the feet on one of the branches of the Wildflower Silhouette image. I stamped the Swallowtail again and adhered the image over the top of the first image. The silver border is from Teresa Collins and the enamel dots and blue letter stickers are Studio Calico. I finished off my card with some twin and white silk ribbon.

Usually after I sketch out a card the elements come together easily, but that was not the case last night! Do you struggle to get from blank cardstock to a completed project? Or is it easy from the beginning? I have found that settling on a basic design first helps me out tremendously. I can always tweak my design while I'm working on the card, but usually the structure stays true to the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll be back tomorrow with a couple of digital layouts and an exciting announcement. See you then!

Girlfriends

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am sharing a card today that I totally cased from the amazingly talented Alice Wertz.
Her card was published in the 75 Creative Card Challenges by Papercrafts Magazine.
She was so kind in allowing me to share my version with you.

Washi tape has a starring role in this CAS card.  I hadn't played with
it too much until recently and found it super easy to work with.
My sentiment is from one of our latest releases.  I adore fun funts and this one
ranks right up there for me.  Plus the phrase is perfect for all your girlfriends in need of a smile.
